With thanks to Nigel, this scene was taken at Wrexham Bus Station sometime between 1972 & 1976. The clues are the express-liveried MW6 (2nd left), which were all out of service by about '77 ; and the bus on the far right, one of the surprise batch of Seddon Pennines which Crosville bought in about '72. These were notoriously unreliable, and they were all withdrawn by about '77 as well. 652x441 CMS 03.jpg |

This photo was taken at Barmouth (the bus station, such as it was, was right next to the Cambrian Coast railway line, hence the signal in the background), and shows one of the later Leyland Nationals about to start the return part of the D94 route back to Wrexham. The later Nationals were far more comfortable and quieter than the first batch. I wouldn't have liked to make a 3-hour cross-country trip to Wrexham in one of those! Taken at Aberystwyth, where the bus depot was right next to Aberystwyth Town FC's ground in Park Avenue (the old stand can be seen behind the National on the left). 740x537 CMS 09.jpg |
