| A few weeks ago a friend of mine went into a second hand bookshop in Preston looking for some old maps. What he came across was totally unexpected. There were four loose-leaf files containing a vast amount of photos and fleet information for Scout, Standerwick, Bamber Bridge Motor Services, Preston Corporation, Ribble and Crosville. For Preston and Crosville there were also bus tickets in the respective files. All the fleet details had been hand written and, in respect of the Ribble group vehicles, information stating which this person had driven or worked on. This led us to believe that he may have been an employee of the Company. However, there was no name of the person that had built this collection anywhere throughout the folders. The photographs and tickets had been glued onto lined paper, which leads us to believe that they are all bought and not taken by this person. None show any details of who took the photos or when they were taken. I have scanned all the photos and now have them on disc. I will put a few on my site so that you can view them and, perhaps, shed some light on this mysterious person. By doing this, I hope that I am not breaking any copyright rules because, as mentioned earlier, the photos have no names of the photographers placed on them (front or back). They will be put on my site as The ………. File (with the corresponding operator filling the gap). There are 9 Bamber Bridge, 36 Crosville, 53 Preston, 40 Scout, 22 Standerwick and about 130 Ribble (I have not yet finished editing them yet) photos. Your comments would be welcome!!
Here are a few Crosville samples 10 November - this now completes the downloading of the photos that were in the above mentioned file |
